Instant messaging utility that integrates encryption algorithms for making communication over the XMPP protocol as secure as possible

In the wake of the leaks provided by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden communication over the web requires some extra security measures such as encrypting messages in order to maintain the privacy of the conversation.

FireFloo Communicator attempts to provide the necessary security to make sure that eavesdropping on your conversation is prevented.

Secure communication options

The application does not require installation and it can be launched immediately after extracting the files from the downloaded archive. It relies on XMPP protocol to enable communication between the parties and on Lybcrypt cryptographic library to ensure privacy.

Right from the start the application asks you to provide a name and a password to log into the client and makes available security options based on RSA cryptosystem and several encryption standards to pick from, AES 256 being among them.

A playground for seasoned users

FireFloo Communicator may seem like an easy to use application but in lack of proper documentation using it for secure conversations may prove to be more than what even an average user can handle, as encryption keys need to be swapped between the user and a server needs to be created; these two tasks are above the knowledge of a novice.

Nevertheless, the project is enticing for a more seasoned user that has the possibility to tinker with security options.

Apart from securing the conversation between two users, FireFloo Communicator also includes a tool called Rosetta that allows encrypting and decrypting plain text.

As such, the application can be used to scramble a message in order to send it over a mainstream channel of communication such as popular email services, without the fear of the details being uncovered by unknown persons.

Conclusion

FireFloo Communicator seems to be a promising project but it lacks the simplicity less experienced users would need so that they connect to their friends seamlessly and without too much hassle.

FireFloo is an instant messaging communicator combining the open XMPP standard (Jabber, GMail Chat etc.) with the echo protocol for multi-encrypted messaging.

Use various methods to send chipertext over open standards like libgcrypt and encrypt your private communication.
