An intuitive application with a very good compression ratio that can help you not only create and extract archives, but also test them for errors 7-Zip is a user-friendly software solution that enables you to quickly create archives with a high compression ratio. Compression ratio in the new 7z format is 30-50% better than ratio in ZIP format. Command line version of 7-Zip can be used in Linux via Wine program. Usually 7-Zip compresses to 7z format 30-70% better than to zip format. And 7-Zip compresses to zip format 2-10% better than other zip compatible programs.
